About the Programme
The Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment objective is to improve the country's
investment attractiveness. The implementation of the Programme as well as
achieving the said objective require adequate preparation of the public administration and
beneficiaries for the best possible use of the Programme's funds.
Altogether fifteen priorities are implemented under the Programme.
Information Processing Institute (OPI) is responsible for implementing one of them: 13th axis
‘Infrastructure of higher education’ (690 million euros).
The goal of the 13th Priority Axis is to develop modern university centres, especially those
which train specialists in modern technologies.
This goal will be achieved through two objectives:
- modernization of higher education infrastructure and increasing of
the numbers of students taking up priority subjects at universities;
- improvement of the quality of university education through the use of ICTs.
Types of aided projects
Implemented projects will mainly consist of: construction, reconstruction and extension of
existing infrastructural objects (construction of modern lecture rooms, laboratories with
equipment used in the course of teaching process) and adjustment of the technical condition
of infrastructure to requirements of new equipment. Also projects concerning mainly of
purchase of equipment and technologies supporting learning and construction or extension
of local and regional broadband and safe school networks.
Up to 25% of the total funds for the Priority Axis support will be given to other branches of
education and accompanying infrastructure (such as sports and recreation), used by
students. The aid cannot be used to finance student housing.
